Video of The Famous Wake Forest Gazebo Moving To New Home At Festival Park
For more than a decade the Gazebo has been the home of DRC events and other activities in downtown Wake Forest. Situated in the "municipal parking lot", taking up 4 parking spaces, it was our only venue for outdoor performances, bands, sitting on Santa's lap, National Prayer Day, and so much more. It was not old enough to be certified "historic" but that's only an "official" designation for departmental regs., not in our lives. For us it's historic and we did not want to lose it, basically for sentimental reasons. Buildings do not have histories, people do.
At the ribbon cutting for phase I of the downtown streetscape project we heard the plans were to destroy it, which seemed a shame. Long story short is the town basically gave us ownership in exchange for moving it. We did, it is, and thanks to Alan Brown heres a short video on our old Wake Forest Gazebo relocating to it's new home here at Festival Park.
Glad to have the Gazebo here so there can be many more memorable moments for so many. The Wake Forest Gazebo is now at it's new home, Festival Park, home of the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment (GJCAE), and the true "home of family friendly festivals" as the memories will continue.
No Sad Faces
One of the most difficult processes in planning a festival or event is how to get the word out within a limited budget so the event is financially successful. Our staff has had many years of experience in dealing with the exact same situation you may find yourself in. We've been successful in some and unsucessful in others but one thing for sure is we know what it takes to make an event bring in people. It's one thing to have a great party and quite another to have a great party with many attending insuring financial success.
Our staff has conducted successfully:
1. HerbFest
2. OktoberFest
3. ItaliaFest
4. ShagFest
5. Farmer's Market
6. Festival Fridays
7. Business Meetings and Seminars
8. Art After Hours
9. IrishFest
10. Microbrewery Festival
11. Artist Receptions
12 Mimosa Mondays
....and weddings by the 100's, receptions and many successful training seminars.

If you only have $100 or $1,000,000 for your budget we can tailor our help to your needs. Whenever doing any event for financial gain, or break even, do not underestimate the cost of publicity to get the word out. If you do it generally is at the peril of your event's success.

We are blessed here at Festival Park to have a large open outdoor area, with a lighted and covered stage.
We also have a spacious 20,000 sp foot indoor space.
Festival Park is a 20,000 sq. ft building. Approximately 17,000 sq. ft is devoted to the indoor open space area. The outside has slightly over 2 acres with some shade trees and we are slowly trying to bring on some landscaping. This area is presently in the worst drought since records were kept and outdoor watering of plants is prohibited.
We're installing a 2500 gallon recycling water tower so we can begin some landscaping in the future. Of course this assumes we will get some rain to fill the tower. Many of the landscape plants will be drought tolerant, ie. Mediterranean Herbs, so the drought will actually help those plants once we can get them established. Our perennials will also be drought tolerant plants and with the leaves the Town has left for us over the past two years we should have plenty of good organic matter to use.
The open space area inside is a nice area for indoor conventions and with the 5 bay doors open we can integrate the outside and inside into one very nice unique setting for meetings, weddings, receptions, dances, concerts, and classes.
Hopefully soon the drought will cease and we can get back on track to converting Festival Park to it's original intended uses.
